Kyagulanyi is a man of many colors. A former MP and now President of the National Unity Platform. He is said to already have a list of the MPs he wouldn’t want to return on the NUP Party ticket because of both valid reasons and personal vendetta.
Here are some of such MPs
Hilderman Kiyaga Hillary (Mawokota North)
Hillary Kiyaga, also known as Dr. Hilderman has for long been a close ally to the NUP Party President Robert Kyagulanyi. He however fell out with him when he sided with Mathias Mpuuga who is now at logger heads with Robert Kyagulanyi.
Well as Kiyaga took a bold decision, Kyagulanyi allies accused Kiyaga of not being loyal and are now, together with the NUP President orchestrating plans to replace him as their flag bearer in Mawokota North, without a party ticket, Kiyaga will find hard times to take on the seat with a well rejuvenated Hon Amelia Kyambadde who is in high gears of returning and taking on the mantle as the area leader.
Jimmy Lwanga (Njeru Municipality)
Jimmy Lwanga the Njeru Municipality MP crossed from NUP to join the Patriotic League of Uganda. He has no accomplishments and is expected not to ask for the party ticket.
David Sserukenya (Makindye Ssabagabo)
Sserukenya is literally the most hated MP at the Party headquarters. He has exchanged with the foot soldiers and the leaders within Makindye Ssabagabo, rendering him an enemy of Kyagulanyi’s army and the top leadership. He is also accused of poor dressing and bad representation in the house.
Twaha Kagabo (Bukoto South)
Kagabo jumped ship, from NUP to the Patriotic League of Uganda and later, the National Resistance Movement. He recently exchanged verbally with the current Leader of Opposition Joel Ssenyonyi, accusing the later of wearing pants that would damage his testicles and later blame government for the damage.
Matovu Charles (Busiro South)
He replaced Peter Ssematimba. Little was known about him until he won the MP seat. Sources say, NUP is bitter with him for only changing welfare from walking on foot to buying a vehicle.
He is also accused of transforming from taking local brew to advanced liquor. Several people including Stephen Ssekigozi, have already come up to replace him in the party and the constituency.
Aloysius Mukasa (Rubaga South)
He is on record for having accused the Party Leadership of selling the NUP party ticket to him, ashaming Kyagulanyi and his team. He is another quiet MP who has literally kept silent for the past five years in the house.
Nsubuga Paul (Busiro North)
He is mostly remembered for his case in the courts of Judicature. He was accused of stealing a mobile phone downtown Kampala ashaming NUP.
He is one of the quietest MPs in Parliament. He replaced Minister Ssozi Galabuzi in Busiro North. He is also known for playing football on the Busiro Ssaza team.
Micheal Kakembo Mbwatekamwa (Entebbe Municipality)
Even before he became MP on the NUP ticket, Kakembo was a staunch DP supporter who was opposed to the Kyagulanyi leadership. He was only supported by Mathias Mpuuga, Medard Ssegona, and the DP block to be awarded the NUP party ticket.
Loyal to the team that helped him get the party ticket, Kakembo joined Mathias Mpuuga in the Democratic Alliance, criticizing Kyagulanyi’s bad leadership. NUP hopes to replace him with a youthful Stuart Lubwama, the head of Kunga – Wakiso District.
Joan Namutaawe (Masaka DWR)
Well, as she has the tenacity to stand up and speak before the house, she is not as vigorous as any member of Parliament would be. She has close ties with MPs said to be opposed to the Kyagulanyi leadership, one a reason she will not be awarded a party ticket.
She is remembered for raising a matter of national importance on seed schools in Masaka, clearly leaving the house in laughter just because of her poor oratory skills.
Wakayima Musoke (Nansana Municipality)
Wakayima Musoke chatted his way to Parliament in 2021, just after the NUP narrative “w’olaba manvuuli tikinga.” He has since been the silent area leader who neither raises matters of importance in Parliament nor in the corridors of the institution.
He is neither loved by the foot soldiers at NUP nor the party leaders who rarely see him. Several people, including journalist Zambali Blasio Mukasa, have risen to replace him on the party ticket within the constituency.
Kazibwe Bashir Mbaziira (Kawempe South)
He is a former journalist. At the time he entered Parliament, he was colleagues with Col. Frank Bagyenda Kaka. He is said to have disappointed the NUP Principal by not sharing some of his loot and Parliamentary cash with them. Kyagulanyi is said to be so bitter with the MP to the extent that he started looking for his replacement in the first year of this Parliamentary tenure.
He also accused Kyagulanyi and NUP leadership of wanting to share his salary as MP.
Katabaazi Francis (Kalungu East)
He replaced former Defense Minister Vincent Bamulangaki Ssempijja. Sources at NUP indicate, despite his flamboyance, his ground is shivering, and voters are running back to former Minister Ssempijja.
Robert Ssekitoleko (Bamunaanika)
He replaced Junior Education Minister John Chrysostom Muyingo. Despite Muyingo facing Seeta High School challenges, the people in Bamunaania still yearn for Muyingo’s return. He is also a quiet MP at NUP, and every NUP leader is dismayed by his speaking silence.
Abdallah Kiwanuka (Mukono North)
Abdallah Kiwanuka is also known as Mulimamayuuni. He fought so hard to become MP until Kyagulanyi and the National Unity Platform came in place. He replaced former Minister Ronald Kibuule. However, the semi rural Mukono North constituency is yearning for Kibuule, who worked further on roads and the electricity and water supply. He, however, fell out with Kyagulanyi just because of his continued silence.
Sources also claim that Mulimamayuuni has never left his Democratic Party ideas and is willing to rejoin DP without hiccups.
Ronald Evans Kanyike (Bukoto East)
He is the Bukoto East MP. He replaced Masaka City Mayor Florence Namayanja. He has been facing challenges with the National Oil Palm Project, fighting hard to protect people’s land. He, however, is not so loyal to the NUP Leader and is ready to replace him with a new entrant.
