Mawokota South, in the Mpigi District, has also been the political Bengazi in the whole Katonga region. It is always marred with high end, urban politics, with sometimes violence, and yet it is in a rural setting.
In 2016, Flamboyant John Bosco Lubyaayi took center stage in a do or die election with Kenneth Kiyingi Bbosa.
Kiyingi had previously ousted Lubyaayi in 2011 to take over the political landscape, taking on a term each.
2021 seemed no different. Susan Nakawuki, who was still a member of the East African Legislative Assembly, joined the race, together with Joel Mirembe, who then headed the professional wing of the National Unity Platform.
Also, Lubyaayi and Yusuf Nsibambi were part of the same race. Nakawuki was asked by voters to concentrate on completing her term at EALA and later return to the race.
As Joel Mirembe gained momentum, a Shaky NUP President, Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine, with a few pocketed dollars refused to endorse him and instead looked up to Nsibambi, whom he asked be voted against his head of the NUP professional wing.
Luckily, Nsibambi triumphed over all others to join Parliament. The Jalia City tycoon thought it was all over. Made an attack on journalists, disrespected whomever seemed to care until it was no more.
A brilliant all-time leader, Susan Nakawuki, on the yellow from moved to return, ready to oust Nsibambi from Parliament.
So is Dennis Bugaya, a senior official at the Buganda Land Board who is fighting immensely to unseat Nsibambi.
At the center stage is Susan Nakawuki. Well grounded, with a vast network and leadership networth that can transcend development.
“She understands our problems and how to solve them through all our sub counties. As others think of buying votes, she is thinking of the poor and vulnerable,” says Bukenya Paddy, one of the leaders in the area.
She has given out up to 190,000 coffee seedlings to the people in the area, boosting the importance of plantational agriculture in the area.
Through all the sub counties, she has traversed with ambition to understand and scale up quality of livelihood for the people.
In Nabusanke, Nakawuki supported the needy with a school that supports their well-being. She also gave out up to 50 tricycles for the disabled and elderly to clearly support their movement.
“I had been handicapped. Couldn’t move from one place to another until she supported me. I can now monitor all my projects. I asked the current MP to support me and instead lied. I have all reasons to appreciate Hon Nakawuki,” one of the beneficiaries told this website.
She has offered chairs to the different villages to ensure that they can easily sit and discuss matters development, saving and credit.
But also, the tremendous lawyer who once worked with top notch Kampala Associated Advocates has greatly impacted sports by improving playing fields with goal posts, balls and jerseys for the people in the area, especially the young and talented to engage in sports.
“Is there anyone better? She has proved even before joining Parliament. She has our back and we have hers,” one of the residents in Buwama, Hassan Mulindwa told this website.
Currently, the panicky button has been activated amongst her opponents. Each planning on how to meander. Full of energy, Nakawuki concentrates on further making strides for people’s development.
“Our greatest pillar is changing societies for the better, through development,” she (Nakawuki) said at one of her functions in Nkozi Sub County.
