Lyantonde youth leader, Counsel Mercy Kanyesigye has bitterly trounced NRM flag bearer Diana Ampaire Kampe in the National Youth MP race.
The race has been taking place in Hoima City on Friday.
Both Kanyesigye and Ampaire – Kampe contested in the NRM primaries. However, Diana Kampe won the primaries narrowly.
Kanyesigye was not satisfied with the results of the primaries and chose to return as an independent.
Despite rallies from a number of groups, Kanyesigye ganared the highest number of votes and has been announced winner of the race.
The National Resistance Movement has severally been leading and winning the college votes.
However, the quest to have Kanyesinye win has been orchestrated by leaders at the National Youth Council leaders, led by the Kalangala District Youth Chairperson Kiboneka Jonathan Kalangala who said, all youth leaders should stand with their fellow NYC youth leader Kanyesigye.
They also blamed Diana Ampaire Kampe of disregarding the National Youth Council leaders and instead focused on the NRM Youth league who do not vote in the college votes.
