Muslim clerics in Butambala have asked the general population within the area to reject NUP Deputy President Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi’s fourth term bid for the MP position in the area.
Muwanga has been in Parliament for three consecutive terms and is now seeking for a fourth term. He was recently appointed by NUP President Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine as his deputy for the Central Region, replacing Mathias Mpuuga.
However, the Muslim Clerics in Butambala, led by Abdulaziz Kimirante, the clerics said, they obtained recordings that the MP asked the Butambala residents to vote for him to earn a new term, with a salary that would help accomplish his projects, adding on his hotels another infrastructure.
“We have been here struggling with excessive sunshine just because he is the same man who was engaged in a deal to sell Butambala forests,” Kimirante said.
He further claimed that Muwanga Kivumbi signed Ugx 2 billion to sell off the forests in Butambala, a claim that could not independently be verified by this website.
He further claimed, “Muwanga, instead of taking his assets and developments to Butambala, he is buying and developing Kampala and the neighborhood. “If he brings his three hotels and petrostations in Butambala, can’t they survive and thrive?” He asked.
“Look at the hospitals, I may not be taken to Gombe Hospital. Even when he gets Ugx 1 billion from Public Accounts Committees, he has not supported any of the facilities, even the roads in Butambala are an initiative of Alhajji Kadunabi Lubega,” he claimed.
He also accused Muwanga Kivumbi of disrespecting the Muslim Clerics even when he doesn’t support them.
“The other time, he accused our Khadi in Buyenga and claimed to have bought him a Ugx 100,000 Kanzu. Should we be disrespected because of Ugx 100,000 attires?” The Muslim Cleric wondered.
Most of the claims by the cleric couldn’t be independently verified by the Entebbe Post.
This website tried to reach Hon. Muwanga Kivumbi’s known telephone contact and verify on the clerics remarks. However, Kivumbi could not respond to our repeated telephone calls.
True, Butambula the only Muslim area that was given to Muslims during the Missionary time,it’s still lagging behind compared to other areas.
Let’s try to bring in people who can work for the area with all their hearts
