The term Doyen clearly conveys a sense of respect, admiration, and recognition for someone’s expertise, experience, and achievements in their field.
A political leader with such traits often has a long history of service, leadership, and extensive influence whose reputation is built on integrity, wisdom, and contributions on the landscape.
A handful of such leaders exist. In the central Buganda region, Kyeyune Haruna Kasolo has always come up triumphant, on top of an inverted pyramid of sheer political power.
Buganda is such a region with good vibe. So interactive an area, receptive and frankly speaking so entrepreneurial. Any person who wishes can succeed in the area, for as long as s/he is willing to try can get there.
All they need is just an enabling environment that makes anyone win. Such comes with great leadership admired and one that lives by example.

“So is his tireless effort in ensuring the Greater Masaka Sub Region gets back to the ruling NRM. His strides make everyone wonder.” Says one of the NRM stalwarts in Greater Masaka.
Wherever he goes, he meets triumphant entry. His approach creates a vibrant touch whose metamorphosis positively impacts ground support, with the love and admiration.
The role of the National Vice Chairperson for the Central Region, for a party such as NRM whose support reduced in the previous 2021 electios, requires a leader who clearly blends with the population, has the tenacity to rally tens of thousands of supporters and commitment to ensure that the party’s candidates make the right decisions to win.
For such a race, Kasolo, according to some delegates in Mpigi, Kalangala and Bukomansimbi has all the traits.
“He blends well with us all and is easily accessible. When he reaches a place, you feel a leader of such important magnitude in place and everyone looks excited. We missed a such a leader and should fight hard to have him in power,” the NRM leaders say.

Kasolo is competing with Godfrey Kiwanda Suubi, who currently holds the position. Kiwanda only managed to ganer 34 out of the 109 MPs in the 2021 elections, leaving many NRM incumbents trounced.
“We now need a supportive leader within our region to ensure that we win in the best possible way. We need a person who can bring back not just numbers, but also love and affection for our party within the central region and that person should be a manifestation of competence. That is Hon Kyeyune Haruna Kasolo,” says Hajji Twaha Sonko Kiganda, the NRM Chairperson for Kalungu District.
Speaking before a group of leaders in Masaka recently, Hon Kasolo said, he is contesting to become the NRM Vice Chairperson for the Central Region because he wants the Buganda region to not only be triumphant, but also, engage the leadership and the people within the area, especially the South Buganda region further be close to the leadership table and ensure that all challenges can be taken to the President and immediately find solutions to them.
“Our challenges are diverse. They all need to be worked on and it requires a person who understands those challenges which also include wealth creation. I am sure you all know I am the best suited to do that and so I request that you vote me to collectively fight with you people so as to address our challenges,” Hon Kasolo said.
