Those close to him say he is in a panic mode. His facial expressions show a man in extreme anxiety, sorrow, or pain, for Mawokota North is far away from returning to his favor.
Hillary Kiyaga, commonly known as Dr. Hilderman is said to be in immense distress, with a lack of what to communicate in a population of people yearning for a service.
He took over the mantle of leading Mawokota North from former Minister Amelia Kyambadde.
Even after the extension of electricity to remote areas like Sama, Kammengo access to basic services to Buiga Island, Mawokota residents sent Hon Anne Amelia Kyambadde out of Parliament in the 2021 protest vote that saw many NUP candidates win.
A year after she left Parliament, residents within the area started feeling her absence, many regretting why they had voted the knowledgeable former Minister out of active service.
“You can feel her absence. The person we voted for can not even match her abilities by half,” says Agnes Nyakato, a resident in Jezza town this website spoke to.
Ms. Kyambadde is said to be a very compassionate woman. Despite having been in the highest offices for years, she still understood that all people are equal. One reason she fought hard so that residents get desired services.
In Mpigi town alone, despite being peri urban, Hon Kyambadde had supported hundreds of people from basic health care to the development of infrastructure.
“You can imagine, with just a phone call, even our health facility, Mpigi Hospital, would get the desired equipment to treat us. Today, you look for your MP, only to be found planning for an upcoming gig,” said an NUP supporter in Mpigi town who asked not to be named.
No sooner had she announced her return than the population started celebrating. For the places of worship alone, the former minister has supported with more than Ugx 100 million to uplift and develop their infrastructure.
“When you call for her aid, she will deliver her personal message and that of the Head of State, which is introduced instantly. We need such problem solvers, not just for the good of ourselves but also for the communities we live in. For sure, our people need an intermediary between them and the Central government.” A leader at Jjanya Catholic parish in Mpigi town told this website.
For all the places she reaches, Hon Kyambadde meets the vast majority of communities yearning for her return. In the parishes of Tiribigo, Lugyo, Mbazzi, Magala, and Jjeza, Hon Kyambadde, who set aside the political differences to support communities, is referred to as mother who feels the pain which society goes through.
“You look at her passion, in helping community and really see a genuine character. It is hard to find such politicians in this current generation since many look at leadership as a game, played to win and earn,” said Frank Kizito, one of the residents.
The former MP has visited Kibanga, Kanyike, Muyira and Kyanja parishes in Kammengo sub-County while Konkoma, Khali Bumoozi, and Maziba are some of the places that have offered greenlight for the renewed political career.
But what does she stand for?
While speaking on a Ugandan media outlet in 2019, the former Minister said, for it is important that we support the communities we come from. “You reach an area and weep only because people are living in abstract challenges for which we as government must solve. It is imperative that we do not become numb. The people that we serve have friends, families, hopes and dreams. For they are worthy of our sacrifices and commitments.”
Since her Parliamentary sabbatical, several projects to take power and clean water, better infrastructure to distant communities remain incomplete.
“Actually, all her opponents should panic. She set the bar so high for any opponent. None can fit into the shoes of such a passionate humanitarian,” says Vincent Tamusange, a resident of Sama Village.
During her leadership many destinations in mpigi changed. So we welcome her back to mawokota North for better future plans for mpigi District mawokota North.
