MP Nambooze, partners donate school requirements to 1000 Mpigi students

More than one thousand students (1000) have been given all the requisite school requirements ahead of the next term, courtesy of the Mpigi Woman MP Hon. Teddy Nambooze and her partners.

The students received the aid on Wednesday from Hon. Teddy Nambooze and the partners at Ggoli parish, Kammengo sub county.

The occasion that started off with a Thanksgiving mass saw the students who came with their parents receive mattresses, blankets, bedsheets, shoes, mosquito nets, drinking bottles, school bags, books among other utilities.

Through her “Tereza Mpigi nga oweelera omwana wo mu busobozi bwo” initiative, MP Teddy Nambooze realized that even with the contribution to bursaries for the many children in Mpigi, many people still failed to take their children to schools due to the lack of utilities.

“I therefore got friends and explained the magnitude of the challenge in Mpigi, and luckily, they offered to support our people,” she said.

There are many places within the Mpigi District that struggle to have people who are self-reliant. Some of these places include landing sites on the shoreline of Lake Victoria.

“I find many widows, single mothers, teenage mothers in large numbers who can not help their children and themselves. My friends from overseas accepted to help me, for if I offer the bursaries, they also support with the utilities to ensure that the children go to school.” She added.

Through her organization, Nambooze has since 2021, when she entered Parliament, been supporting Mpigi children with affordable education schemes through the provision of bursaries to them.

This, in turn, has helped reduce the number of people in the district who do not go to school while many others have also been offered skills in hair dressing, tailoring, pedicure and manicure to ensure that they can easily find work to do.

More than 5,000 people have been supported under he initiatives.
