The Rotaract Club of Kalangala Ssese Islands has awarded three distinguished leaders who have served communities through humanitarianism and grooming emerging young leaders.
The awarded who included Commissioner of Parliament Mathias Mpuuga Nsamba, Salongo David Mukasa Balironda and Assistant Governor Joseph Mutajulula were presiding over the installation of Mr. Allan Mutagubya as the incoming Rotaract President at Sinyaland Museum in Kalangala Town.
Mpuuga was also the Chief Guest at the function held on Thursday evening.
According to Rotaract Club of Kalangala Ssese Islands President Allan Mutagubya, Mpuuga has for long, through his vast network identified brilliant young leaders who he refined to take over different governance roles within the country.
“I thank God that I am part of those who have gone through his hands and hope to serve humanity in his footsteps,” Mutagubya said.
The other awardees Salongo David Mukasa Balironda and Joseph Mutajulula were awarded for supporting the Rotaract Club of Kalangala Ssese Islands.
The Woman Member of Parliament for Kalangala, Ms. Helen Nakimuli praised Rt Hon Mpuuga for tirelessly inspiring and training her not only in legislation, but also general leaders his skills.
She recollected some of Rt. Hon Mpuugas deliberations, “learning to unlearn” as part of the deliberations she uses in her daily life.
On his part, Mpuuga, with gratitude thanked the people of Kalangala for outgrowing nostalgia and anticipated with sacrifice. He also asked Islanders to protect the hidden tourism treasure, “it is the finest destination in the country”.
He promised to continue shaping more young people into leaders for the coming generation and the future of the country.
On his part, the new President of the Rotaract Club of Kalangala Ssese Islands introduced a project that will see the construction of a Kids Center in Kalangala that will support all working parents find deliverance for their children as they get to work.
This is part of the urban 95 global goals setting smart cities.
