State House Anti Corruption Unit arrests LC1 Chairperson who led the breaking of Kisenyi mosque

The State House Anti Corruption Unit has arrested Saad Lukwago, the LC1 Chairperson of Muzaana Zone, Kisenyi, who is said to have led the unlawful and fraudulent demolition of Masjid Daarul-IImaan, a mosque that served the larger Muslim community in the area.

 

The Chairperson, said to have been working on the orders of Mr. John Bosco Muwonge, in December 2024, together with a group said to be operating under the Kifeesi in Kisenyi, Kalerwe and Kawempe demolished the Mosque, claiming Muwonge was the owner of the land.

 

Muwonge later fraudulently transferred the land documentation from Hajji Kizito Lutwama Moussa to Namayiba Park Hotel owned by him.

However, a complaint was raised to the State House Anti Corruption Unit which immediately incepted investigations and later sactioned for the arrest of all people involved in the fraudulent demolition of the Mosque.

 

Earlier this week, the State House Anti Corruption Unit successfully arrested Mr. Saad Lukwago, the LC1 Chairperson of Kisenyi (Muzaana Zone) who is said to have led the group.

 

Also arrest warrants for the other suspects including officials from Tropical Bank and Mr. John Bosco Muwonge were issued for successful prosecution to ensure.

 

The suspects whose warrants of arrest have been issued include John Bosco Muwonge, Juma Kiyingi Bbosa, Ssenoga Henry, Kato Joseph Mulongo, Majuega (Kifeesi), Asuman Bamweyana of Tropical Bank and Joweria Mukalazi, also working with Tropical Bank, among others.

Also, the registration of Land and title by Namayiba Park Hotel, owned by John Bosco Muwonge, has been canceled and returned to Kizito Lutwama Moussa, the rightful owner of the land with immediate effect.

 

Prosecution is set to start in courts of Judicature and establish an award of compensation to all damages caused by Muwonge on the said Mosque and land.
