There is no Speakership battle, and the country already has a new Speaker, supported by the Uganda Peoples Defense Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Chief of Defense Forces has said.
Gen Muhoozi made the remarks on his X handle on Friday morning. He however did not declare who would be the next Speaker.
The statement came after days of accusations and counter accusations between the PLU Secretary General David Kabanda and Masaka City Woman MP Justine Nameere, each accusing the other of bias, among other things.
Each camp was accusing the other of non compliance to standards and malpractices that make the country and leadership seem bad.

However, on Thursday Gen Muhoozi said, he personally appointed David Kabanda and anyone who fights him is fighting the Patriotic League of Uganda.
Now, the General of the current Generation said, the most high God guided and the battle for the Speakership has already been managed without chaos.
The official election date for the Speaker and Deputy Speaker has been designated for May 25th this year. President Museveni is said to have met both the current Speaker Anitah Among and Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa on Thursday.
Sources however say, Defense Minister Jacob Oboth Oboth maybe fronted for the third most powerful seat.
