Deputy Speaker Rt Hon Thomas Tayebwa has presided over the successful negotiation between Kigulu North MP Hon. Kungu Samuel Bamuteeze and runners up in the race Hajji Bagodi, securing another win for the NRM Party.
Bagodi had petitioned court seeking the nullification of Hon Kungu on a number of election malpractices during the just concluded general elections.
In his message, Rt Hon Tayebwa said Hajji Bagodi’s move to withdraw the election petition is a sign of confidence in the NRM Party and the bigger view of creating harmony amongst leaders in Iganga District.
“I sincerely appreciate my brother Hajji Ismail Badogi Waguma for voluntarily withdrawing his parliamentary election petition challenging Hon. Kungu Samuel Bamuteeze, the elected representative for Kigulu North Constituency in Iganga District,” Rt Hon Tayebwa said.

He added that “His (Bagodi) gracious and selfless act reflects a deep dedication to preserving unity within NRM and promoting the stability and progress of Kigulu North and the broader Busoga sub-region. Hajji Badogi is the NRM Party treasurer for Iganga District.
By choosing to withdraw the petition, Hajji Badogi has shown remarkable statesmanship and a firm commitment to party solidarity. His decision underscores his clear grasp of the NRM’s guiding principles and long-term vision, as championed by the party’s Chairman and the President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. I encourage colleagues with electoral petitions especially those of NRM party to talk and harmonize their issues outside court.”
