MP Nambooze, Mpigi leaders hold security team meeting to end land, other security threats

 

A team of Leaders in Kayabwe town council led by the Mpigi District Woman Member of Parliament have held a security meeting with the people of Kayabwe Town Council to find solutions to the emerging security, land related threats within the area.

Hon Teddy Nambooze and Mpigi District Chairperson Kawuki Simon Peter, among other leaders had recieved a number of such issues from the population and caused a security meeting to discuss the matters.

Among the issues, the residents raised red flags on increasing murder incidents within the area, a number of land related threats including illegal evictions, among other issues.

The team, led by Hon Teddy Nambooze indicated that, solutions and interventions will be sought in one month to ensure that the people within the area remain safe and secure.

“We are going to return and report back to our people after getting answers to the very many issues that have been raised.” Hon Nambooze said.

She indicated that, all stakeholders from the district planners, surveyors and land officers will be raised to ensure, there is an organized way of handling land matters within the area.

Well as a number of District senior officers were reported in the land conflicts, there hasn’t been any incriminating evidence to support the claims. Hon Nambooze said, investigations have been instituted to ascertain the claims.

Police within the area however said, Land cases within Kayabwe town council have drastically reduced in the past one year although there is still work to be done to ensure that murder incidents within the area reduce.

“A country develops with a secure environment. So it is our duty to ensure that our people are safe and secure for business, schools to thrive,” Nambooze says.

Nambooze also rallied all the people within the area to further engage in the ongoing processes of ensuring that the Local Council elections are upheld with utmost trust. She also encouraged communities to vote out all LC1 chairperson who engage in illegality and criminality.

“All Ugandans must engage in the elections. The Chairpersons act as informers, adjudicators and so right decisions must be made when electing such leaders,” Hon Teddy Nambooze added.

The LC 1 Elections are expected to take place on July 28th 2026. Hon Teddy Nambooze also rallied all women to effectively participate in the Women Council elections as they get new leaders. She said, such councils drive an agenda that involves women empowerment and development.

The MP asked resident to also actively participate in working towards solving society problems themselves to ensure they can easily educate their children, especially in times of distress.

Hon Nambooze has for the past five years initiated projects such as those that ensure education abilities within the area are attained. Through her project, “Tereeza Mpigi nga oweelera omwaana mu busobozi bwo”, Hon Nambooze said, her university and tertiary programs remain available especially in training teen mothers through free skilling services.

She also asked mothers who find challenges at Health Facilities, especially during atenatal to expeditiously communicate to her to hold government accountable.

The Internal Security team within the area, the Local Council Chairpersons, the District and Regional Police Commanders, Town Council Chairperson of Kayabwe, among others attended the meeting.
