The District Education Officer and the whole education department in Mpigi have been asked to support Arise Samuel primary school in provision of a center and other requirements for island school to thrive, Hon. Teddy Nambooze the Mpigi District Woman MP has said.

Hon Nambooze said this after making an impromptu monitoring visit to Bunjako island where she found the school, initiated by the parents in the area and found more than 500 pupils getting both skills and primary education from the same school.

The MP was amazed when she found parents engaging in providing tailoring, hair dressing, phone repairing and motor bikes mechanics.

Hon Nambooze said Government ought to support such schools that engage in skilling young children especially in remote areas such as that on Bunjako island to ensure that they get letters of opportunity.

“The parents started their own initiative, made bricks and constructed a school for their own children to learn, it is such an amazing initiative,” Hon. Nambooze said.

She promised to support the children by initiating them into her own skilling program to ensure that their adaptive learning can help be improved

“The pupils make their own uniforms from their own knowledge which is one an amazing experience.” She said.

She added that, she wants the District Inspector of schools and the District Education Officer to get a center number to avoid the children from moving from the school to another while looking for center number that can help them sit for primary leaving examinations – PLE.

“I ask the parents to thank the teachers since they give them extra skills . It is important because this is a hands one piece of work.” Hon. Nambooze added.

The school adminstration thanked Hon. Nambooze for sparing time, engaging them and ensuring that she finds solutions to the school challenges to ensure that children do not struggle to get education.
