BUYENDE— The Minister for the Presidency and MP Budiope West, Hon. Babirye Milly Babalanda, yesterday together with the district leadership of Buyende, commissioned science kits donated by the Ministry of Education and Sports to government schools in Buyende District.
Speaking at the handover, Hon. Babalanda said the donation is a timely intervention that will strengthen the teaching and learning of science subjects in the district.
“This timely intervention will go a long way in strengthening the teaching and learning of science subjects in our schools. By equipping learners with practical tools, we are building the foundation for innovation, critical thinking, and skills that are critical for Uganda’s development,” she said.
The Minister explained that the science kits will enable students to move from theory to practical work in laboratories.
“This will improve performance, increase interest in sciences, and prepare our young people for the jobs of the future,” Hon. Babalanda added.
She also used the occasion to commend Hon. Janet Kataha Museveni, the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, for her visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to improving the quality of education in Uganda.
“We sincerely commend Mama Janet for her dedication to ensuring that every child in a government school accesses quality education. We also commend the entire team at the Ministry of Education and Sports for the planning, coordination, and dedication that has made this initiative possible. Your efforts demonstrate a clear commitment to leaving no learner behind,” she said.
Hon. Babalanda urged Buyende District education officers, head teachers, and science teachers to work together to ensure that the kits are used effectively, protected, and used to produce the next generation of scientists, engineers, doctors, and innovators for the country.
The district leadership welcomed the support and pledged to monitor the utilization of the kits to ensure they benefit learners as intended.
The donation is part of the Ministry of Education and Sports’ nationwide program to equip government schools with practical learning materials to support science education and Uganda’s human capital development agenda.
